The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Lagos Chapter is an affiliate of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (Parent Body). Chapter activities are coordinated by the Senate headed by The Chairman.
Other elected Members of the Senate are Deputy Chairman, General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Research and Development Secretary, Public Relations Secretary, two Ex-officio, minimum of three and maximum of five Co-opted Members.

To train and produce world-class Quantity Surveyors, regulate and continuously enhance quantity surveying ethical standards and technical competence aimed at providing quality services at all times. Promotion of Quantity Surveying principles of construction economics, costs, procurement and management as sine qua non for effective delivery of all types of capital projects and developments from conception to commissioning and maintenance in all sectors of the economy
To be the profession in Nigeria responsible for total cost and procurement management, for the achievement of client’s objectives in all types of capital projects and developments, from conception to commissioning and maintenance, in all sectors of the economy, for the attainment of sustainable National development and goals.
The Quantity Surveyor is the profession within the building and engineering construction sector of the economy concerned with the cost and procurement management from conception and close-out of any construction project.
The profession came out of the need to separate the cost and management functions of building and engineering projects from the design functions in order to achieve checks and balances in the system and independence necessary for efficiency, effectiveness and value for money.
Thus it combines the understanding of the design process and the knowledge of the construction process which are pre-requisites for competent estimating and cost management.
